From the Mayans to the Aztecs, it has many archaeological and heritage sites to kindle the history buff in you. After continental breakfast at the hotel, you'll meet your private tour guide for a city tour where you'll visit the historic center including the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Museum of the Great Temple, and the Zócalo. Paseo de la Reforma and its monuments, Ave Juarez, Zocalo, the National Palace; Mural Museum of Diego Rivera “A Sunday afternoon Dream at the Alameda Park.” Here we visit the Three Cultures Square.   • Later we visit Teotihuacan, the ancient Mesoamerican city renowned for its impressive pyramids, including the iconic Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon. Visit Guadalupe Basilica, the largest pilgrimage of the Virgin Mary in the world.

  • After lunch we will proceed to Guadalupe to visit the Guadalupe Basilica, located in Mexico City, which is one of the most significant religious sites in Mexico and the Americas. In 1531, according to tradition, the Virgin Mary appeared to a native Mexican, Juan Diego on the Hill of Tepeyac, near present-day Mexico City. She instructed him to build a church in her honor. After several miraculous events, including the imprint of her image on Juan Diego's cloak (or "tilma"), the local bishop was convinced of the apparition's authenticity. A shrine was built on the site, marking the beginning of devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Over the centuries, the shrine became a major pilgrimage site, drawing millions of devotees annually. As the number of pilgrims increased, the original church was expanded and renovated multiple times. However, due to structural issues caused by sinking land, the Old Basilica faced the risk of collapse. This excursion will offer you a day of adventure and learning about Costa Rica. We will visit the Poas Volcano where you can take a short walk to the crater to see its beautiful lagoon. This is one of the largest active craters in the world and is an active 2,708-meter stratovolcano. The crater of the volcano is over a mile across and 1050 feet deep. It has erupted 40 times since 1828, including April 2017.The main attraction, Poás Volcano, is one of the largest and most active volcanoes in Costa Rica, with frequent eruptions and a massive crater that contains a turquoise-colored acidic lake. When the mist and cloud’s part you’ll see the sulfuric, bubbling green, rain-fed lake at the bottom, surrounded by smoke and steam rising from fumaroles. Water from the lake is constantly seeping through cracks in the hot rock, evaporating and building pockets of steam. When the pressure in these pockets exceeds the weight of the water above, the steam breaks through in geysers that rocket up to 820 feet high. We will continue to Poas Volcano National Park, where there is a noticeable change in temperature and exuberant vegetation of the cloud forest. The canal consists of a system of locks that raise and lower ships as they traverse the waterway. At its heart are three sets of locks: Miraflores, Pedro Miguel, and Gatun. These locks enable vessels to overcome the elevation difference between the two oceans allowing them to navigate through the canal's freshwater channel, Lake Gatun, and a series of artificial and natural channels.

EQUATOR TOUR

  • Visit Mitad Del Mundo, Where History Meets the Equator
  • Ecuador is one of the best countries to visit in South America because it is compact, but incredibly diverse. The name "Ecuador" comes from the Spanish word for "equator," which is "Ecuador." Ecuador was named after the equator because the country is located near the equatorial line that divides the Earth into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. When the Spanish colonizers arrived in the region in the 16th century, they named the area after this prominent geographical feature. The Equator passes through it! There are 12 other countries around the world can also claim that honor, Ecuador is the only country named after it. Archaeological evidence shows that both pre-Inca and Inca civilizations recognized and celebrated the equinox, the day the sun is directly over the equator. After breakfast we visit the historical Centre of the ‘Mitad del Mundo’; the site located just 30 minutes north of Quito, where a monument marks the equator at its closest point to the city. Here we will visit the “Ciudad Mitad del Mundo” a group of buildings designed to explain the significance of the site, as well as the Ethnographic or Intiñan Museum, located right on the Equator. Here you will have the chance to plant your feet in two hemispheres at the same time.
  • Visit Pululahua Volcanic Crater: Ecuador's Geological Wonder
  • Later we will make a 45-minute journey northwest to the equatorial line, where we will walk the rim of the extinct Pululahua volcanic crater. Spanning approximately 3 kilometers in diameter, this ancient caldera is one of the few inhabited volcanic craters worldwide. Its name, derived from the Quechua language meaning "cloud of water," hints at the mist-shrouded beauty that often envelops its verdant slopes. Pululahua's fertile soils support a rich tapestry of plant life, nurtured by centuries of volcanic activity. Visitors to Pululahua are treated to breathtaking vistas, hiking trails, and glimpses into Ecuador's geological past, making it a destination of wonder and exploration.
  • Back in Quito, after lunch we will visit the city’s impressive colonial center, the reason Quito was the first city to be named a world heritage site by the United Nations. First on the agenda is a walk through the main plaza, the ‘Plaza de la Independencia’, where you will see the Government Palace, the Cathedral, Basilica of the National Vow, the Archbishop’s Palace, and City Hall and some of the most important churches built around the XVI and XVII centuries, including the San Francisco Monastery, a building begun only 5 days after the founding of the city. QUITO – GALAPAGOS ISLANDS

  • After early breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the hotel to the airport to take a flight to the Galapagos Islands. The guide will assist you with all the airport procedures to travel to the Enchanted Islands. The Galápagos Islands, known as the Enchanted Isles, are a mesmerizing archipelago adrift in isolation in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 1,000 kilometers from the coast of Ecuador. This unique cluster of 13 main islands and hundreds of islets boasts a blend of sun-baked landscapes, misty vistas, and twisted lava formations. Let’s explore the magic of these pristine islands! Avianca Flight departs to the Galapagos Islands at Galápagos Ecologic Airport 09.55 hrs.

Explore Galápagos Islands: The Natural Wonder

  • Your Galapagos experience begins here! A trip to the Galapagos Islands is truly an incredible experience. They are the home to endemic species of fearless animals including giant tortoises and sea turtles, land and marine iguanas, equatorial penguins, florescent flamingos, and gigantic whale sharks which were studied by Charles Darwin in the 1830s and inspired his theory of evolution by means of natural selection. The province is divided into the cantons of San Cristóbal, Santa Cruz, and Isabela, the three most populated islands in the chain. All these islands are protected as part of Ecuador's Galápagos National Park and Marine Reserve. You will arrive at Baltra Island, the gateway to the Galapagos. This tiny island was a military base during the Second World War and hosts the Island’s principal airport. The airport was built using the most advanced environmental techniques to reduce emissions and energy use. This is the first ecological airport in the world.
  • The guide will pick you up from the airport to start the visit to the highlands. After lunch, we visit shelters for the giant tortoises, lava tunnels, and the twins which are geological formations formed by collapse over time. One of our visits is El Chato provides the opportunity to marvel at the celebrated Giant Galapagos Tortoise roaming in its natural habitat. You will have the option to visit geological formations like a natural lava tunnel or twin pit craters "The Gemelos" or both, depending on your energy level! The "Gemelos" or Twin Pit Craters, located in the Scalezia zone of the island, are a great place for bird watching. Look out for Darwin Finches, Galapagos Doves, Cattle egrets, and the blue-footed and red-footed boobies.

Visit Charles Darwin Research Center, Galapagos Islands

  • Later we visit Charles Darwin Research Center. It is the matrix of all the scientific research in the Galapagos Islands. It is from these headquarters from where all the most sensitive conservation projects are being directed. The conservation and preservation of giant tortoises, and marine iguanas among others are some of the examples of the Center labor. We can walk along the core of the Research Center where we can find the corrals where the giant tortoises are being bred as well as the corrals where the land iguanas are being studied. The Research Center offers a brand-new Interpretation Center with some of the most important samples of the Center Collection. At the end of the visit, you will be driven to Puerto Ayora.

Day 12

ISABELA ISLAND TOUR

  • After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel Isabela Island by 06.30. After a short walk, you will reach the pier of Puerto Ayora from where a local water taxi will take you to the Galapagos Element Wind Yacht to sail to the city of Pto. Villamil on Isabela Island. Isabela Island is a captivating gem that enchants visitors with its natural beauty and diverse wildlife. As the largest island in the Galápagos, Isabela boasts a varied landscape, from rugged volcanic terrain to lush forests and pristine beaches. The island straddles the equatorial line and this is the reason why here we will find many active volcanoes of America. During our 3-hour navigation, there are great chances to observe marine turtles, manta rays, several species of marine birds, and perhaps whales. Once at Pto. Villamil, a local water taxi will take you to the pier from where our private transportation will take us to the Isabela Turtles Breeding and Interpretation Center. Here, we can also see Giant Galapagos Tortoises of different species and sizes. Afterward, we start our walk to the place known as “Humedales” (Wetlands). The walk follows a well-maintained path from which we can observe this beautiful place composed by lagoons and rocks. It is surrounded by 4 species of mangroves and typical trees of the area. In the lagoons, we can observe flamingos and migratory birds such as the charran or Gaviota de Galapagos (Creagrus furcatus), the Cerceta aliazul, etc. The walk ends at one of the main streets, close to the beach. We can marvel at the unique flora and fauna, including giant tortoises, marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies, and penguins, all of which contribute to the island's status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Nearby, you can find the Iguana Crossing Restaurant where we will have lunch while enjoying a great view of the Pacific Ocean. After lunch, a short rest will be followed with a visit to the place known as “Las Tintoreras”, a scenic area where we find colonies of marine iguanas and sea lions, and as one of the main attractions we will be able to observe the sharks known as Tintoreras (White-tipped shark) resting in the channels formed by lava flows. Isabela Island promises an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike.
  • Later, we can do some snorkeling perhaps accompanied by sea lions, penguins, and marine turtles. In the area close to the pier, we will have time to rest and enjoy the beach before we embark on our Galapagos Element Wind Yacht and sail back to the city of Puerto Ayora. ( All excursions and visits to the islands depend on the wind and weather) Later we will return back to the hotel.

FLIGHT TO COLUMBIA

  • After breakfast free time for leisure and later your guide will pick you up from the hotel to the airport to take a flight to Bogota. Later connect Avianca Flight AV8394 AT 18.20 hrs. from Guayaquil Airport and arrive at Bogota International Airport at 20.10 hrs. Welcome to Bogota, Columbia. Explore the Gold Museum, unveiling Colombia's Glittering Past

  • After lunch we visit the Gold Museum. Gold Museum is Bogotá's most famous museum and one of the most fascinating in South America, the Gold Museum contains more than 55,000 pieces of gold and other materials from all of Colombia's major pre-Hispanic cultures. The collection is laid out in logical, thematic rooms over three floors; descriptions are in Spanish and English.   • Later we transfer to Mount Monserrate to experience the enchanting allure of Bogotá from the lofty heights of Mount Monserrate at over 10,000 feet above sea level. Your adventure begins as you ascend the mountain aboard the historic funicular or the modern cable car, offering panoramic views of the city below. Feel the anticipation build as you climb higher, surrounded by lush greenery and the crisp mountain air.
